Anke BEHMER biography

Anke Behmer married the non-Olympian triple jumper Bodo Behmer. She was the first East German heptathlon champion in 1980 after this competition replaced the pentathlon. She defended this title in 1982-83, and 1986-87, and also won indoor pentathlon titles in 1982-83 and 1988. In 1988 she set a world record in the indoor pentathlon with 4,995 points and won the bronze medal in the heptathlon at the Seoul Olympics. After German reunification she was national runner-up in the 1991 heptathlon and placed third in the long jump that year.

After her active career she built up her own physiotherapy center in Neubrandenburg.
