Jagjeet SINGH KULAR biography

Jagjeet Singh Kular played hockey for Kenya at the 1972 München Olympics and was an alternate to the Kenyan team in 1968. Born in Kenya after his parents had emigrated there from Punjab, India, he studied at Lyallpur Khalsa College and Punjab University in India, where he played on the hockey teams. He later studied at Nairobi University in Kenya. Singh Kular competed for The Rest of India team in the later 1960s. He played at the 1971 and 1973 World Cups for Kenya, playing both centre forward and inside right both for the national team and Sikh Union Nairobi (from 1969-73). His father and two brothers had also played for Sikh Union. Singh Kular emigrated to Canada in 1973 and worked in coaching and sports administration, where he was technical director of the Québec Field Hockey Federation and later the Ontario Field Hockey Federation. He also managed the Canadian team that toured Italy and Spain in 1992.
