The best moments from the 2016 Summer Olympic Games
- Representing ITA
Mauro Nespoli was nine years old when he first saw the sport of archery on a family holiday and he was soon hooked.
A couple of years later he won the Italian Youth Games, he joined the Italian junior national team at 14, and by 18 had been elevated to the senior squad.
Nespoli's first Olympic Games was at Beijing 2008. Alongside Marco Galiazzo and Ilario Di Buo, he helped Italy reach the Final of the Team competition, where they were edged out by South Korea, leaving Nespoli with silver.
However, they went one better at London 2012, at the famous Lord's cricket ground, with Nespoli and Galiazzo this time joined by Michele Frangilli.
They defeated Chinese Taipei, PR China and Mexico, before seeing off the United States in the Final.
He was again selected for Rio 2016, David Pasqualucci taking his place alongside Nespoli and Galiazzo, but Italy were eliminated by China in the Quarter-Finals.
Nespoli had lost in the First Round of the Individual event in both Beijing and London, but he made the last eight in Rio.
