Naomi van As was a star performer for the Netherlands as they won back-to-back Olympic hockey titles at Beijing 2008 and London 2012.
The golden girl of Dutch hockey, Van As scored the team’s first goal in their 2-0 win over hosts China in the 2008 final, and at London 2012 she played a key role as her team defended their title.
She was also part of the side that took silver at Rio 2016 following a thrilling final which ended with a penalty shootout defeat against Great Britain.
Featuring on three World Cup national teams, Van As also won two golds in 2006 and 2010 and silver in 2010.
A forward or midfielder, Van As is a three-time European champion, taking gold in 2005, 2009 and 2011 as well as two silver medals in 2007 and 2015.
Van As, who was encouraged to take up the sport by her hockey-mad mother, is also a nine-time Champions Trophy Dutch team member. She has won a total of nine medals, with three gold, one silver and five bronze medals.
