Indian boxing aces MC Mary Kom and Amit Panghal will be eager to book their berth for the 2020 Olympics at the event in Jordan.

The Indian boxing contingent will begin their quest to seal a place at the 2020 Olympics at the Asia/Oceania Olympic Boxing Qualification at the Prince Hamzah Hall in Amman, Jordan from Tuesday.

Led by the legendary MC Mary Kom, the Indian pugilists will be eyeing to seal a place in 13 weight categories (eight among men and five in women).

While the men will compete in the flyweight (52kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (63kg), welterweight (69kg), middleweight (75kg), light heavyweight (81kg), heavyweight (91kg) and the super-heavyweight (+91kg), women will be seen in action in the flyweight (51kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (60kg), welterweight (69kg) and the middleweight (75kg) division.

Men’s squad:

Amit Panghal (52kg), Gaurav Solanki (57kg), Manish Kaushik (63 kg), Vikas Krishan (69kg), Ashish Kumar (75kg), Sachin Kumar (81kg), Naman Tanwar (91kg) and Satish Kumar (+91kg).

Women’s squad: Mary Kom (51kg), Sakshi Chaudhary (57kg), Simranjit Kaur (60kg), Lovlina Borgohain (69kg) and Pooja Rani (75kg).

Asian boxing Olympic qualifiers fixtures and schedule

The Asian Olympic Boxing Qualification will see the preliminary rounds run from March 3-7 while quarter-final bouts are scheduled for March 8-9. The semi-finals and box-offs will be held on March 10, with the finals and last round of box-offs set for March 11.
