Table-toppers Bayern Munich host FSV Mainz in their first match of the new year in matchweek 14. Watch Bundesliga live in India.
Champions Bayern Munich will look to kick-start their new year with a win when they host FSV Mainz in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
The Bavarians wrapped up an eventful 2020 with a 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen to climb to the top of the Bundesliga points table for the first time this season.
Though the season has been challenging for Bayern Munich, their win against Leverkusen -- a team that was atop the league table until last week -- showed their willingness to slug it out for wins.
Striker Robert Lewandowski continued his red-hot form with the two goals in the match, while Niklas Sule, Serge Gnabry and Thomas Müller stepped up to the task to see the side through.
Head coach Hans Flick will be expecting a similar performance for his side when they face Mainz, a side struggling to stay afloat this season.
Mainz’s poor start to the campaign has seen them part ways with head coach Jan-Moritz Lichte and with very little time left for their next game, it remains to be seen who will fill in those boots.
In the other big fixture of the weekend, former champions Borussia Dortmund will welcome VfL Wolfsburg in what’s expected to be a high-octane clash at the Signal Iduna Park.
