Elavenil Valarivan of Gujarat brought her A game in the women's 10m air rifle, to better compatriot Apurvi Chandela's world record and win the T3 national selection trials on Thursday at the Dr Karni Singh shooting range.
Valarivan shot 253 in the T3 finals while Chandela had scored 252.9 in the New Delhi World Cup in 2019 to set the world record.
On Wednesday, Divyansh Singh Panwar also created a world record in the men's category of the same event by hitting 253.1.
Chandela had a disappointing day in the range as she crashed out in the qualifiers. Another Tokyo berth holder Anjum Moudgil also could not progress to the final round as she stood 10th in the qualifiers with a score of 625.2.
Vanshika Rathore and Meghana Sajjanar came second and third respectively in the 10m rifle event.
Whereas, in the Men's 50m rifle event Sanjeev Rajput continued her stellar performance as he not only topped the qualifiers with a score fo 1176 but also emerged victorious in the finals with a resounding 462.2.
Aishwary Singh Tomar came a close second with 458.1. While Army's Chain Singh occupied the third position with a score of 445.3.
Manu Bhaker bounced back to form in the 10m air pistol event and clinched the top spot with a score of 243.7 after 24 shots.
D Padma of Railways came in second with a score of 240.2 while Rhythm Sangwan of Haryana stood third with a score of 220.2.
In the Men's 25m rapid fire pistol event Vijayveer Sidhu was the winner with a score of 35. He was in top form during the qualifiers as well as he posted a score of 586.
Gurmeet and Bhavesh Shekhawat came second and third respectively in the qualifiers but in the final round, the latter upped his ante to finish as runner-up while Adarsh Singh broke into the top three.
