FC Goa's Indian Super League (ISL) season starts with a match against 2018-19 ISL champions Bengaluru FC on November 22 at the Fatorda Stadium.

With ISL season 7 being entirely played in Goa due to COVID precautions, the Gaurs will enjoy unprecedented home advantage throughout the competition and will look to make it count.

One of the ISL's original eight, FC Goa (FCG) have been the league's most consistent performers, reaching the final twice and the playoffs on three occasions in the last six ISL seasons. However, FC Goa are yet to win the title and Goa fans will hope the team can finally cross the finishing line in ISL 2020-21

Last season, FC Goa finished at the top of the points table after the league phase, winning their maiden ISL championship and earning a place in the next AFC Champions League. FC Goa will be the first-ever Indian club to participate in Asia's top-tier continental competition this season.

From the squad perspective, though, things have changed a lot for the Orange Army compared to last season.

Former head coach Sergio Lobera's sudden departure before last season's playoffs and the Spaniard eventually joining Mumbai City FC for the upcoming season has seen an exodus of first-team players.

Long-standing captain Mandar Rao Dessai has followed Lobera to Mumbai with a bulk of Goa's foreign core, including Hugo Boumous, Ahmed Jahouh and Mourtada Fall, following suit.

ISL's all-time top scorer Ferran Corominas or Coro, meanwhile, has returned to Spain to play in the Segunda B for Atletico Baleares. Defender Carlos Pena has also departed, leaving Edu Bedia as the only retained foreign recruit from last season's team.

Former Malaga youth coach Juan Ferrando will be in charge of FC Goa's dugout this season.

The 39-year-old Ferrando has brought in his own signings, including centre forward Igor Angulo, Real Madrid Castilla defender Ivan Gonzalez and former Atletico Madrid B players Jorge Ortiz and Alberto Nogueraand.

Australian centre back Jones Donachie has also joined on loan from A-League side Newcastle Jets. Barring Donachie, the remaining five FC Goa foreign recruits are from Spain, preserving the Spanish influence associated with the team.

From the Indian roster, mainstays Lenny Rodrigues, Seriton Fernandes, Mohammad Nawaz and Brandon Fernandes are all set to return for ISL 2020-21. Former NorthEast United winger Redeem Tlang has been the only big-name Indian signing for the Gaurs this Summer.

FC Goa will play a total of 10 matches until January 11. The rest of their fixtures will be announced later.
