Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Stadium hosted the trials for the World Championships Kazakhstan 2019 on Friday. The Indian team shortlisted five names keeping one more spot under the 74kg weight category for freestyle wrestling.

The top five competitors at that global event are expected to bag a ticket each for Tokyo 2020.

Sixth spot up for grabs

Sushil Kumar’s return under the 74kg category boosts hopes for Team India at the World Championships 2019. Injuries have delayed trials for grappler Praveen Rana under the 74kg category, which is why the veteran grappler Sushil would have to wait till the second week of August.
