Like several celebrities, Olympians Dipa Karmakar and Leander Paes too will appear on the hugely popular Kaun Banega Crorepati reality show hosted by Big B.
Leander Paes, a bronze medallist from the Atlanta 1996 Olympics, and Dipa Karmakar, the gymnast who became the first Indian to make the Olympic final at Rio 2016, were special guests at the show that was recorded on Thursday.
KBC runs on the lines of the American programme Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and was first aired in 2000.
The KBC episode will see the two Olympians sporting ethnic wear and engage in bouts of laughter and banter as Amitabh Bachchan helped them recount their glorious moments on the sporting field.
The KBC episode, a Diwali special, is a part of the ‘Karamveers’ series, which features people who have brought about a positive change in society.
Dipa Karmakar has been busy working on her rehabilitation post the knee injury that sidelined her for the majority of the 2019 season.
While a second Olympic appearance at Tokyo 2020 looked like a distant dream for India's pocket dynamo at the start of the year, the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant postponement of the Games has come as a blessing in disguise for Dipa Karmakar.
“It gives me more time to recover and prepare for the two events. I will give my best to return to form and hopefully, I can do well and qualify,” Deepa had said a few months back.
Meanwhile, Leander Paes was to hang up his racquet post this season. But with the pandemic disturbing his schedule, it remains to be seen if the Indian tennis legend will carry on for another year.
Kaun Banega Crorepati is telecast on the Sony TV channel. The special Diwali Karamveer episode with Dipa Karmakar and Leander Paes will be aired at 9:00 PM IST on Friday, November 13.
Episodes of KBC can be streamed on SonyLiv. Subscribers of mobile network providers Jio and Airtel can watch KBC on live streaming free on Jio TV and Airtel TV, respectively.
