Approximately 8-12 events will take place from May to September 2019, with more details to come throughout the season.
The inaugural event kicks off in Chengdu China, with eight teams competing until June 1: they are Australia, China, France, Japan, Mongolia, Netherlands, Ukraine and USA.
“The tremendous growth of the 3x3 basketball discipline now allows us to offer women a chance to play 3x3 at the highest level on a regular basis,'' said FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis in a statement.
In the new women’s series, teams will be selected for events based on team ranking and each team will represent their national federation.
"This will represent a unique opportunity to bring new countries on the focus as well as for the best players to prepare and offer an amazing show at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.” - Andreas Zagklis
