Happy World Smile Day!

And is there anything that creates a bigger smile than winning Olympic gold? Take a look at some of the brightest smiles from the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Bradie Tennell targets triple axel in coaching change

When 2018 Olympic figure skating team bronze medallist Bradie Tennell went to work with coach Tom Zakrajsek, she didn’t intend on leaving her long-time training base outside Chicago.

“I came to work with Tom for a week or two on my jumps, and then it just kind of evolved,” she told TeamUSA.org. “I knew I needed to make a change if I wanted to stay in the sport and progress. I feel I am not done in the sport. I love the sport and I know I have more to give to it. I felt like I needed to make a change for myself.”

The new atmosphere is already paying dividends, as coach Zakrajsek says his new student has already begun to land triple Axel jumps in training.

“That’s after only a short period of time,” he said. “I am really confident it is going to get clean, and it will be a beautiful triple axel that launches in the style of Mirai Nagasu and Alena Kostornaia.”

U.S. cyclist Chloe Dygert released from Italian hospital

Olympic silver medallist Chloe Dygert is heading home after a scary crash at the 2020 UCI Road World Championships in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy.

“It’s been a rough few days and I’m ready to return home now to begin my recovery. I want to say thank you for the incredible care I’ve been given here in Italy and all the kind wishes I’ve received,” said Dygert in a statement from USA Cycling.

Once home, Dygert’s recovery will be overseen by USA Cycling medical staff in consultation with the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee’s medical team.

“Chloe has had access to the best medical care in Italy and she will continue to be under the care of the best doctors and specialists available,” said Dr. Michael Roshon, USA Cycling’s Chief Medical Officer. “Her goal, and ours, is to develop the optimal rehabilitation plan to get her back on the bike quickly and safely.”

Gymnastics star Aly Raisman shares experience with OCD

Three-time Olympic gymnastics gold medallist Aly Raisman shared her struggle with obsessive compulsive disorder publicly for the first time on the podcast ‘Armchair Expert’ with Dax Shepard, who also shared that he has OCD.

"When you say you have OCD, I like that — I mean, I'm sorry you have OCD, but I mean it makes me feel like I'm less alone in that because people don't really talk about it a lot publicly, at least what I see," said Raisman, according to People.com.

In her post-gymnastics career, Raisman has increasingly focused her attention to activism, especially mental health. She came forward in late 2017 as a survivor of sexual assault perpetrated by former U.S. team doctor Larry Nassar.

“I always thought OCD was I have to touch this x amount of times or I have to do this x amount of times before I leave the room,” said Raisman, “but I've also learned that OCD is classified with like ruminating thoughts or obsessive thoughts or catastrophic thinking. I have that."

Trivia time

Yesterday, we asked which female gymnast has recorded the highest score in Olympic history. That’s Nastia Liukin, who earned a 16.9 on the uneven bars during the team final at Beijing 2008. But, it’s a tricky matter to compare scores Games to Games as the International Gymnastics Federation adjusts the scoring system after each cycle.

Here’s today’s question.

  1. Katarina Witt
