India’s badminton star Saina Nehwal will soon have a biopic on her with Bollywood star Parineeti Chopra playing the leading role.

Nehwal, on Monday, took to Twitter to share the news and extend her support for the project.

Earlier, Shraddha Kapoor was signed on to play Nehwal’s role in the movie with the makers even releasing the first look last year. However, there has been a change in plans with Chopra being brought on board.

While the movie was initially scheduled to be released ahead of next year's Olympic Games in Tokyo, with a change in cast, the release date has not been announced.

Once released, Nehwal’s story will join the likes of Milkha Singh, MC Mary Kom, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and seven-time national steeplechase champion Paan Singh Tomar who have seen their journey immortalised on the silver screen.

On court action

Meanwhile on the court, the Indian shuttler, Nehwal will be keen to get her season back on track after a couple of opening-round exits in her previous competitions.

Having bowed out in the first rounds of the China Open and the Korea Open last month, the 2012 London Olympics bronze medallist will be eager to get back into her groove at the Denmark Open that gets underway from October 15.

Nehwal, who has been occasionally seen training under her husband Parupalli Kashyap, will be up against the former Asian Games bronze medallist Sayaka Takahashi of Japan in the opening round at the Odense Sports Park.
