Manchester City take on Arsenal to usher in a blockbuster return of the Premier League.
One of the most popularly followed football leagues in India, the Premier League returns on TV and live streaming platforms this week after a three-month break in play due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Two of the Premier League’s most successful teams, Manchester City and Arsenal will square off at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday, June 18 just past midnight to complete Matchday 29.
Manchester City is currently sitting second in the Premier League standings with 57 points and can move seven points clear of third-placed Leicester City to further consolidate that position.
Arsenal meanwhile is ninth with 40 points and will be looking for a positive result to continue their unbeaten run in the league since the start of the year.
The Gunners can potentially climb two spots to seventh if they win and can leapfrog North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the process.
The sides’ previous meeting earlier this season resulted in a 3-0 win for Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.
The Premier League’s first match of its return will see Aston Villa face Sheffield United at Villa Park on Wednesday night.
Sheffield United have been the surprise packages of the season.
Currently sitting seventh with 43 points, the Blades will aim for a winning restart and displace giants Manchester United in the top five to improve their chances of competing for a place in the Europa League next season.
