SC East Bengal (SCEB) are all set to mark their centenary year with their maiden appearance in the Indian Super League (ISL) and quite fittingly, their ISL 2020-21 campaign starts with a fixture against ATK Mohun Bagan on November 27.

East Bengal's clashes against fellow Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan has been Indian football's centrepiece match since 1920.

With both teams coming into the ISL fold - SC East Bengal as the new 11th team and Mohun Bagan through its merger with three-time champions ATK - the famous Kolkata Derby will have a new platform to thrive on in the ISL.

A late confirmation of their entry into ISL 2020-21 did leave the Red and Gold brigade with very little time to prepare, but the management has done well to recruit smartly in the short window they had.

Former Liverpool great Robbie Fowler has been appointed as head coach of the team for ISL 2020-21.

Congolese international Jacques Maghoma has been the big foreign signing for East Bengal. The 33-year-old is a Tottenham Hotspur youth product and played for Birmingham City in the English Championship last season.

The midfielder was also Birmingham's player of the year in 2017-18.

Maghoma will be joining former Australia U-23 Scott Neville, Irish international Anthony Pilkington, Welsh forward Aaron Joshua Amadi-Holloway, former Wigan Athletic player Daniel Fox and German youth international Ville Matti Steinmann in SC East Bengal's foreign roster for ISL 2020-21.

East Bengal’s domestic contingent, however, does look slightly weaker than the other teams on paper.

Jeje Lalpekhlua, Balwant Singh, Narayan Das and Eugeneson Lyngdoh – all India internationals - represent the big domestic names in the squad but all four have struggled for form in the last few years, primarily due to injuries.

SC East Bengal will play a total of 10 matches until January 11. Rest of the fixtures will be announced later.
