Real Madrid’s first visit to San Siro since 1998 highlights a host of intriguing matchweek 4 fixtures in the UEFA Champions League. Watch UCL live!
Real Madrid will be on the road to face Inter Milan at the San Siro Stadium in a crucial UEFA Champions League (UCL) 2020-21 Group B clash in matchweek 4.
The two European giants also faced off in the reverse fixture in matchweek 3 with the Los Blancos edging out Antonio Conte's men 3-2. Watch UEFA Champions League matches on live streaming in India.
Both teams are precariously placed in Group B where just three points separate toppers Borussia Monchengladbach (5 points from three matches) and bottom-placed Inter (2 from three matches). Real Madrid are third with 4 points from three matches, trailing second-placed Shakhtar Donetsk on goal difference.
A loss for either side in the match can prove detrimental to their qualification to the knockout stages in this season's UCL. At home, Inter Milan will need to go for the three points.
Conte, however, will need to engineer a win with a depleted squad. Defender Aleksandar Kolarov, Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic and goalkeeper Daniele Padelli have all tested COVID-19 positive and will be unavailable for the game.
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane too is dealing with the virus. Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Casemiro and Eder Militao had recently tested positive for coronavirus. While Hazard, Casemiro and Militao have recovered and available, Jovic is certain to miss out against Inter.
Real Madrid's biggest absentee will be captain Sergio Ramos, who picked up an injury while playing for Spain during the international break.
Without Ramos in the squad, Real Madrid have lost seven of their last eight European fixtures.
Ramos' defensive partner Raphael Varane was also doubtful for the match after injuring his shoulder on international duty. The Frenchman, however, did start in the La Liga on Saturday and will be available for the Inter tie.
Real's defensive woes may be compounded with Inter set to welcome back top scorer Romelu Lukaku, who missed the reverse leg against the Los Blancos. This will be Real Madrid’s first visit to San Siro since 1998.
