At the International Olympic Committee, our vision is to build a better world through sport. We believe the Olympic athletes are beacons of positivity who carry the Olympic Spirit, spreading it to all corners of the world and inspiring everyone to become beacons of positivity themselves.
To support this belief, we are making a donation to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency to work together in bringing light to refugee camps in four key sectors: the streets, sports areas, households and community spaces.
Watch why we believe that together we can shine and light up the world.
9 out of 10 people in refugee camps live without access to light which is important for work, study and play. Learn about the difference that the International Olympic Committee is making together with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, in bringing light to refugee camps below:
“Light is one of the most important elements to ensure a dignified life in the camp.”

Olympians are beacons of positivity, spreading light and inspiring everyone to ‘Become the Light’.
We believe that by striving for excellence, the possibilities are endless.
We build our best relationships by guiding and nurturing those around us.
We move forward as one when we respect the strengths in ourselves and others.
