Patrick Aloysius EWING biografia

Patrick Ewing was a high school star at Cambridge Rindge and Latin near Boston, and then one of the nation’s great centers at Georgetown University, where he led them to the 1984 NCAA Championship. Ewing was the 1984 Final Four Most Outstanding Player and in 1985 was the Naismith College Player of the Year. He was the #1 overall pick of the 1985 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks and played with the Knicks for 15 years in the NBA, from 1985-2000. Ewing finished out his NBA career with one season with the Seattle Supersonics (2000-01) and one with the Orlando Magic (2001-02). Ewing averaged 21.0 points/game and 9.8 rebounds/game in the NBA, scoring 24,815 points. He was an 11-time NBA All-Star (1986, 1988-97), and was 1986 NBA Rookie of the Year. He was named to the NBA 50th Anniversary All-Time team, and his number, 33, was retired by the New York Knicks.

After retiring as a player, Ewing spent several years coaching. He was an assistant with the Washington Wizards from 2002-03, then with the Houston Rockets from 2003-06, and with the Orlando Magic from 2007-12. Ewing is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. A two-time Olympian, he won gold medals both in 1984, possibly the greatest amateur team ever, and in 1992, as a member of the Dream Team.
